"White Christmas" Nov./Dec. 2010 Music & Lyrics by Irving Berlin, Book by David Ives and Paul Blake Coming to this theater in its Saratoga premiere is this wonderful and heartwarming musical adaptation which features seventeen Irving Berlin songs. The 1954 movie starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen -- a story of a male song and dance team who join together with a sister song and dance team to perform a new revue in a Vermont Inn. The dazzling score features well-known standards including "Blue Skies", "Sisters" "I Love A Piano" and the perennial favorite, "White Christmas". "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" Mar./Apr. 2011 Music and Lyrics by William Finn, Book by Rachel Sheinkin, Conceived by Rebecca Feldman This Tony Award-winning musical which recently closed on Broadway after nearly 1,200 performances is coming to this theatre. This hilarious musical comedy celebrates the mania of competition as the funniest, most lovable and sardonically nerdy contestants compete for the Spelling Bee title. Six wacky misfits with their steely ambition strive to define themselves apart from their crazy families as they confront the pitfalls of growing up and vie for selection in this witty and wise Broadway hit about coming of age on stage! TBA June/July 2011 Another Great Rodgers & Hammerstein Musical -- Due to our contractual agreement with the Publisher, we are not permitted to "officially" announce the Saratoga performances of this classic musical at this time. But we can tell you: This musical was the final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, which was destined to become the world's most beloved musical based on the story of the Von Trapp Family Singers. Winner of 6 Tony Awards which included Best Musical, Book and Score. It has been performed on Broadway several times, toured nationally and on hundreds of stages the world over. The movie won 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
