Music by Leonard Bernstein, Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by Arthur Laurents

 Cast & Staff

The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this award-winning Broadway musical based on a tough, contemporary story, spiced with love and headlines about warring juvenile street gangs in New York and their struggle to survive in the world of hate, prejudice and violence.

When "West Side Story" opened on Broadway in 1957, it was hailed by the critics as a milestone in blending drama, music and dance. An Oscar-winning movie version was made in 1961, starring Natalie Wood and Rita Moreno, that made this musical a classic. With electrifying dances and some of the most magnificent music ever written for the stage, the score includes "Maria", "Tonight" and "Somewhere".
